Strata was engaged by Bovis Lend Lease to develop field based methodologies for the testing of soil depth and rock strength over rollout areas of Stage 2 of the National Broadband Network in Tasmania.Strata developed rapid field based methodologies incorporating ground penetrating radar (GPR) as well as portable NATA calibrated rock strength testing units for determining these parameters to ensure the client met all contractual requirements regarding rock rate claiming for direction drilling over the network areas.Strata subsequently won the contract to supply drilling and testing services using this methodology and has ongoing work proving shallow rock deposits over the stage 2 rollout areas of the NBN network.
